What deployment options do I have?

D365BC can be deployed in mainly two methods, either online (SaaS) or on-premises.

Are Dynamics 365 Business Central user licenses concurrent or named?

D365BC user licenses are named.

What licensing options do I have?

D365BC can have two offerings Essentials and Premium. The Essentials license is ideal for companies that need sophisticated processes, yet simple enough to be managed in one solution across finance, opportunity, supply chain, and project management. The Premium license offers the same functionality in the Essentials, with the added key functionality for manufacturing and service order management.  It is important to note that all Named Subscriptions must be the same.

What User Subscriptions options do I have?

D365BC user subscriptions classify users into two types, Full Users and Team Members. Full users are the users whose work requires use of the feature rich business applications functionality. Team Members license includes read access as well as some write access for select light tasks across D365BC. It is important to note that every Customer needs to have at least one Full User.  Team Member Licenses have some differences between D365BC SaaS and On-Premises

What authentication methods can I use with Dynamics 365 Business Central?

D365BC SaaS requires that you use a work, or school, email address to sign up. Business Central does not support email addresses provided by consumer email services or telecommunication providers. This includes outlook.com, hotmail.com, gmail.com, and others. If you try to sign up with a personal email address, you will get a message indicating to use a work or school email address.

Do I have to buy Office 365?

No. But if you want to experience D365BC as fully integrated with Office 365, you are better off having an O365 Account, we can help you with the best prices for O365.

What is the integration with Office 365 about?

Business Central is fully integrated with Office 365 so that you can navigate freely between Office 365 apps and Business Central using the app launcher. In Business Central, you can open data in Excel, print reports using Word, and you can work with your Business Central data in Outlook, for example.

Why can't I find that capability in my Business Central?

Did you read about a new capability in the release notes or on our blog recently? In that case, your Business Central might not have been upgraded to the latest version yet. If the capability is published as an extension in AppSource, then there is a delay between the extension being announced and its availability in AppSource.

Can I get training in Business Central?

Yes, you can. We would be happy to train you and your colleagues on Business Central. Also, if you have access to Microsoft CustomerSource, you can get access to the Imagine Academy site with eLearning material.

How do I get technical support for Business Central?

Since Business Central is sold through partners, you should contact us to get help with technical problems. If we won’t be able to resolve the problem, we will raise a support ticket with Microsoft.

Why does Help describe functionality that I cannot access?

If your Experience setting on the Company Information page is set to Essential, then UI elements for the Manufacturing and Service Management features are not visible to you because they require the Premium A text note is inserted in high-level help topics for these feature areas.

May existing on-premises Dynamics Price List (DPL) customers transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises?

Existing customers with an active Enhancement Plan may transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises. Contact us today for more information

How do DPL concurrent licenses transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises named users?

Per the Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises Upgrade Policy, Dynamics NAV customers, with an active Enhancement Plan, transitioning to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises will receive two Business Central on-premises Full Named users for each Full Concurrent NAV user licensed prior to October 1, 2018.

How do NAV 2018 Limited Concurrent CALs transition to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises named users?

Per the Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises Upgrade Policy, Dynamics NAV customers transitioning to Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises will receive two Business Central on-premises Team Members licenses for each “Limited Concurrent CAL” licensed prior to December 1, 2018.

Can a customer downgrade from Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises to Dynamics NAV 2018?

Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises customers will not be granted access to NAV 2018 license keys

Do customers get Dynamics 365 business Central on-premises functionality if they purchase a Team Members license?

At least one full user, Essentials or Premium, must be licensed to get Dynamics 365 functionality.
